“Indigo” is the 2014 tomato fad. It is a deep purple pigment, like found in blueberries. Anthocyanin is responsible for the deep purple color. It is considered to be a good antioxidant. I only ordered ‘Indigo Blue Berries’ but ended up with a plant with yellow fruit and purple shoulders. After some research, I believe it a hybrid tomato called ‘Indigo Sun’. The deep purple color only comes out if the fruit is hit by the sun.
