I have planted this pot numerous times over the last few years with bulbs, sweet peas etc but have never emptied the soil, so it’s impossible for me to say what the drainage situation is at the bottom. It’s safe to say that it’s does drain ok as the bulbs and other things that have gone in there have all done well. Make sure your pots have good drainage so the water can an escape through the hole/holes at the bottom of the pot.
Anytime I’ve needed to top up the soil level I’ve used well rotted compost created on site.
