Allotment Diary : Planting the first Container grown Potatoes

Planting out the first of this years container pot grown potatoes.
These are the 30 litre pots as always.
First I half fill a pot with compost then add your fertilizer of choice, be it Blood fish & bone or a speciality potato one.
Then push a couple of potatoes into it to within about 2″ of the bottom.
This year I’m trying a different method and planting another 2 potatoes higher up in the pot to try to get more potatoes near the top.
Then simply place the pot on a soil bed and heap up soil around the holes.
Top the pot up as the potato plant emerges leaving a few leaves showing until the pot is completely filled to the top.
